The Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation
ODBF supports The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, Tim Horton Children’s Foundation, The Ottawa Senators Foundation, OSEG Foundation, and The ODBF Community Fund through the generosity of our donors.
The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa
The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa (BGCO) has served the Ottawa community since 1923, reaching out to 4,500 children and youth each year through after-school, weekend and summer programs that build self-esteem and help to develop stronger social skills. The funding from ODBF will provide thousands of children and youth in seven at-risk neighbourhoods across the city with a safe space during the most vulnerable hours of the day, and free access to life-changing programs in four key programming pillars that are purposefully designed to drive personal development: Education; Physical Activity and Healthy Lifestyle; Leadership and Social Skills; and Creative Arts.
Tim Horton Children’s Foundation
The Tim Horton Children’s Foundation is dedicated to fostering within the children who attend Camp des Voyageurs Tim Horton in Quyon Quebec the quest for a brighter future. A Foundation camp experience provides programs to help children from economically disadvantaged homes develop lifelong skills. For these children, opportunities and environments that promote their growth into healthy individuals are often limited. When they return home, they bring with them a positive attitude about their future, and the confidence to achieve goals they learned to set for themselves.
The Ottawa Senators Foundation
The Ottawa Senators Foundation empowers children and youth to reach their full potential by investing in social recreation and education programs that promote both physical and mental wellness. The funding from ODBF will be used for the new Sens Power Plays program. Through a proven, confidential, secure application and income verification process, grants will be provided to reduce registration and equipment fees so children and youth from within the National Capital Region can improve their access to recreational and sporting opportunities of their choice.
The OSEG Foundation operates as a stand-alone, not for profit entity. The funding from ODBF will be invested in specialized programs and camps that give more children and youth, ages 5 to 24, access to sport-based development. By breaking down the barriers that limit a child’s participation, OSEG will give more children in the community a chance to experience and benefit from the power of sports.
