OTTAWA DRAGON BOAT FOUNDATION MAKES $5000 DONATION TO THE YMCA-YWCA OF THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION

The Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation (ODBF) is pleased to announce its donation of $5,000 to the YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region.

The Y provides opportunities for personal growth and character development by delivering unique and contemporary programs for everyone regardless of race, religion, creed, ability or economic circumstance. The organization develops all of its programming based on four core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility while striving to nurture an inclusive community and ensuring everyone has access to programs with a no-one-turned-away philosophy.

The YMCA-YWCA offers Y Kids Academy programming throughout the school year each year.  Children can participate in the program both through or independent of their school and once complete receive a 1-year membership so they can stay active and practice their newly learned skills.

About YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region

The National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA is as established as the country itself with the YMCA first opening its doors in the year of our confederation and the YWCA establishing itself fifteen years later in 1892. Both independently served this community through various services and programs vital to the quality of life of the men, women and children of Ottawa. To better serve and pursue a stronger commitment to improving the quality of life in Ottawa these two organizations saw fit to combine their efforts and resources, and thus amalgamated locally in the mid-1960s.
