Annual fundraising event brings community together in support of Epilepsy Ottawa and Ottawa First Responders Foundation

OTTAWA, ONTARIO, September 28, 2026 – The Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation (ODBF) brought sport, philanthropy and community together on Saturday, September 26, as the Ottawa Fire Truck Pull raised more than $44,000 in support of Epilepsy Ottawa and the Ottawa First Responders Foundation.

Held on York Street in Ottawa’s ByWard Market as part of the Bytown 200 celebrations and in partnership with Nuit Blanche Ottawa/Gatineau, the 2026 event brought together teams from across the region for a day of friendly competition, teamwork and charitable giving.

Participating teams have raised $44,367, with online fundraising continuing until midnight on September 30. The funds will support Epilepsy Ottawa’s education, advocacy and support services for people living with epilepsy and their families, as well as the Ottawa First Responders Foundation’s mental health and resilience initiatives for first responders, veterans, retirees and their families.

The event also recognized the outstanding commitment of its participants, with TEAM SHREK receiving the Best Overall Team award for its combined performance in team spirit, fundraising and pull time, while Capital Ghostbusters was named Most Charitable Team after raising $8,063.94.

The Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to all participating teams, sponsors, volunteers, Ottawa Fire Services, event partners and supporters whose generosity and dedication made this year’s event possible.
