Children at Risk (CAR) was created in Ottawa 40 years ago with a mission to provide services and programs to families of children diagnosed within the Autism Spectrum Disorders to develop their child’s behavioural, communication and social skills, and to advocate for their ongoing needs.
Children at Risk offers families in the greater Ottawa area a March Break Camp experience that offers an environment where their children are safe, respected, engaged and celebrated for their differences. Every year, Children at Risk finds the demand for the March Break Camp increases and strives to continue to serve more and more children.
“I’m a single mom and the March Break Camp that Children at Risk runs makes a world of difference to my son and me. They offer him a safe, fun, engaging place to be, full of kind people who make his life better. I’m allowed time to continue my job and still have energy at the end of the afternoon to spend time with my son. Without the CAR camp, I would have no options for child care. I am extremely grateful to Children at Risk and all of the people who support the charity and support children like my son.“ ~ Anita
